Repair Techniques
Repairs to fire and blast damage require a variety of techniques depending on the structural materials and structural system being used:
- Removing deteriorating, cracked or spalled concrete that may have lost its contribution to section strength (subject to testing and inspection).
- Treating or restoring rebars and, where required, replacing sections of rebar.
- Cleaning sections of structures that are charred or affected by fire, using special agents where specified.
- Reinstating sections of concrete, timber and steel elements.
- Steel heat treatment, hot works, plating, welding or bolting where feasible.
- Concrete jacketing, special grouts such as high-performance concrete, or carbon fibre strengthening where required.
